Once you become a native garden lover, the non-natives stick out like a sore thumb. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those purists; I grow basil, chicory, lavender, and other endearing plants imported to North America from lovely places on the planet. But I couldn't help but notice in all the botanical shirt offerings there were mainly European flowers (looking at you, pansies, peonies, and mums), so I thought I'd represent our lovelies in the U.S., with a strong emphasis on Californian natives. You will see superstars like Black Eyed Susan, CA poppy, lupine, bluebells, and that incredible blue phacelia. There are a few unidentified plants too, all being enjoyed by the Monarch butterfly and various wild bees.
This shirt is a joyful, feel-good gift certain to brighten even the dreariest of days.
